Library to hold 75th Birthday Celebration

The Brunswick County Library is celebrating 75 years of service on October 7th.  An all-day appreciation of library patrons is planned featuring special gifts for the first 75 visitors. On display will be art by William Ward Moseley as well as library memories from year’s past. From 4:00-6:00 PM the library will host featured guests including, the Librarian of Virginia, Sandra Treadway; local historian, Gay Neale; and Brunswick County Board Supervisor, Barbara Jarrett Drummond Harris.

The first library building, which is the present Brunswick County Museum, was opened October 7, 1940. The current library building opened in 1987 to allow for the expansion of the library’s collection. Ever changing and evolving to meet the needs of the community, the library has access to more than 83,000 books and movies, as well as large collection digital books, magazines, and music available for download.

Through the years the Brunswick County Library has served as a central hub of the community offering not just books and information, but also programs, fax and copy service, public computer and printer access, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and more.  Be sure to stop by, see all that the library has to offer, and mark your calendar for October 7th to celebrate the library’s birthday.

The Brunswick County Library is a part of the Meherrin Regional Library System and is located at 133 W. Hicks Street, Lawrenceville. For more information contact the library at 434-848-2418 ext. 301 or visit FaceBook at
