2015 Peanut Festival Highlight Slideshow

Rain, at times heavy, did dampen the festivities, but those of us that braved the weather enjoyed the 2015 Virginia Peanut Festival.

New Circulation Desk at Library

The Richardson Memorial Library located in Emporia, Virginia recently completed the purchase and installation of a new service desk.  This new public service desk is constructed at varied height which now offers library users of all heights and needs easy access to the librarians.  Instead of the older desk which was at a standing height only, the new desk is lower and allows for approachability for comfortable patron-staff interactions.  The new desk also provides a better staff workflow and this means a more effective and efficient public assistance to library patrons.  The old stair steps children had to use to get their books to the top of the desk for check-out are gone, no longer necessary.  The funds for this new public service desk were provided to the Richardson Memorial Library by an anonymous donor expressly for the purpose of improving public service through better design and materials.  The Meherrin Regional Library thanks that donor for thinking of the Richardson Memorial Library and its contribution to the community.  Everyone please come into the library and check out the new desk.
