Psychiatric residential treatment facility for adolescent girls and boys located 15 minutes north of Emporia, Virginia seeks experienced licensed clinician (LCSW or LPC) to provide therapy and case management services on an inpatient basis.  Substance Abuse and Addiction Counseling experience and certification preferred.  Population served includes adolescent girls and boys with complex developmental trauma, co-occurring mental illness, and substance abuse issues.  Position provides individual, group, and family therapy within a psychiatric residential setting. 

Virginia license is required.  Two years’ formal experience counseling adolescents is required.  Residential experience is preferred.

Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center Announces August Employee of the Month

Emporia, VA – Alison Phillips has been named the Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center (SVRMC) Employee of the Month for August 2017. Ms. Phillips, who works in SVRMC’s Imaging Department, has been employed at SVRMC since June 2003.

Each month employees are nominated for demonstrating excellence in one of ten Standards of Behavior; the highlighted Standard of the Month for August was Service Recovery.  Ms. Phillips’ nomination included the following statement:  “Alison strives to ensure that each of our patients has an excellent customer experience while at SVRMC.  When one of our patients expresses a concern, she always goes above and beyond to accommodate them. Alison is a true patient advocate and is very deserving of the Employee of the Month Award for Service Recovery”.

As SVRMC’s August Employee of the Month, Ms. Phillips received a certificate of recognition, balloons, cookies to share with her co-workers, a cash award, and a chance to be selected as SVRMC’s 2017 Employee of the Year.

Joyce Livesay Harding

Joyce Livesay Harding, of Emporia, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 23, 2017 after a long battle with dementia while at Hickory Hill Retirement Center. She was preceded in death by her brother Darden R. Livesay and mother Ella Maude Darden Livesay. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Robert W. Harding and her children Douglas W. Harding and Tricia L. Parker. She was a long-standing member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 28th at 9:00 a.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church in Emporia, Virginia. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 a.m. with a reception afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Main Street United Methodist Church.
