Summer Reading is Fun for the Family

The Meherrin Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program features events and movies that are sure to delight children of all ages. Monday Movies begin June 24th, with events beginning Thursday, June 27th.

This year’s Summer Reading theme is “It’s Showtime at Your Library!” All events will be held at the Brunswick County Library in Lawrenceville at 10:30 AM and at the Richardson Memorial Library in Emporia at 2:00 PM.

Uncle Henry and his animals will present “The Wild Side of the Alphabet” on June 27th for our first event. On July 11th, ventriloquist Uncle Ty-Rone and his “ventriloquppets” will use music and comedy to share the joys and benefits of reading. Hunter Rhodes will be on hand July 18th to present a fun and interactive live magic show for all ages. The last event on July 25th will feature author Christine Emery, who will use storytelling, comedy, and magic to encourage children to see themselves and the world in a magical way. Door prizes will be given out at all events, and Top Reader Grand Prizes will be given out at the last program to those who read the most books in their age group.

Monday Movies will be held at the Brunswick County Library at 10:30 AM and at Richardson Memorial Library at 2:00 PM. The Lego Movie: The Second Part will be shown on June 24thHow to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World on July 1stThe Lion King on July 8thFinding Nemo on July 15th; and Wonder Park on July 22nd. Snacks are welcome, and children under age 10 must be supervised.

Summer Reading is Fun for the Family

The Meherrin Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program features events and movies that are sure to delight children of all ages. Events begin Thursday, June 28th, with Monday Movies beginning July 2nd.

This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Reading Takes You Everywhere!” Events will be held at the Brunswick County Library in Lawrenceville, VA at 10:30 AM and at the Richardson Memorial Library in Emporia, VA at 2:00 PM.

On Thursday, June 28th, the first program kicks off with Mad Science, “Up, Up, & Away”, an interactive show featuring hot air balloons, vortex generators, and flying toilet paper that will help children understand the power of air. Monday Movies will begin July 2nd with Disney’s Planes (rated G, 90 minutes). Disney’s Planes will be shown at the Brunswick County Library at 10:30 AM, snacks welcomed. The Richardson Memorial Library will have a showing at 2:00 PM, snacks will be provided during the show. Children under age 10 must be supervised.

Great Fun at the Library

The Meherrin Regional Library System invites you to join us for Uncle Henry’s “Animals with Class” on Thursday, July 27th. This fun and educational show will feature animals and interesting facts about their habitats. This program will be held at 10:30 AM at the Brunswick County Library, Lawrenceville, and at 2:00 PM at the Richardson Memorial Library, Emporia.

Monday Morning Movies will conclude for the summer on Monday, July 31st with a showing of the new live-action Beauty and the Beast. This movie is rated PG and is 129 minutes long. The movie will be shown at 10:30 AM at both the Brunswick County Library and the Richardson Memorial Library. Snacks are welcomed. Children under the age of 10 must be supervised.

Be Amazed at the Library

On Thursday, July 20th, join us at the Meherrin Regional Library System as Steve the Amazing Teacher teaches us about the magic of books through science and storytelling. You can even learn to build your own magic trick! The program will be held at 10:30 AM at the Brunswick County Library, Lawrenceville, and at 2:00 PM at the Richardson Memorial Library, Emporia.

Summer Fun at the Library

On Thursday, July 6th, the Meherrin Regional Library System invites you to beat the heat with a movie at the library. The Dreamworks movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, will be shown at 10:30 AM at the Brunswick County Library, Lawrenceville, and at 2:00 PM at the Richardson Memorial Library, Emporia. This is a change from the posted schedule. The 4-H Smoothie Wars event has been cancelled.

Monday Morning Movies at the Library begin Monday, July 10th with The Lego Batman Movie. This movie is rated PG and is 104 minutes long. The movie will be shown at 10:30 AM at both the Brunswick County Library and the Richardson Memorial Library. Snacks are welcomed. Children under the age of 10 must be supervised.

The Richardson Memorial Library is participating in the summer feeding program on Thursdays. Lunch will be available for chldren under the age of 18, at no charge, from noon to 1:00 pm
