The case of Sarah Boone has taken a new turn as her attorney has requested to step down from the case. As a result, Sarah now has to look for a new defense attorney, which will mark her ninth one.
According to the investigation, the couple had been drinking and found it amusing to see the man get zipped up in the luggage. However, after placing him inside the suitcase, the woman passed out in bed. It wasn’t until several hours later that she woke up and discovered that he was still inside. She immediately called 911 for assistance.
According to reports, she purportedly said, “That’s your responsibility. When you cheat on me, that’s how I feel.”
According to police, the man can be seen in one of the videos trying to flee while another video shows the luggage in a different location as Torres calls out to Boone. Boone was apprehended by authorities as they discovered her statements to be inconsistent.
Patricia Cashman, Boone’s previous defense attorney, has filed a motion this week requesting to be withdrawn from the case. This marks the eighth attorney to do so.
According to Court TV, Cashman represented Boone during a Friday hearing, but in recent court filings, he cited irreconcilable differences, including ethical considerations.
At the hearing, Boone presented a 58-page letter to the judge, expressing his frustration with Cashman’s allegedly unpleasant demeanor, which Boone described as “snotty.”
On Friday, Boone expressed to the judge that he had never encountered anyone like Ms. Cashman.
“I believe that if I change my approach towards her, she will reciprocate by changing her disposition and attitude towards me. It doesn’t matter how much I have to lower myself to coexist with her. To tackle this issue, I have devised a solution where I pretend to be a judge in our interactions. I hope that this will encourage her to treat me professionally and appropriately, which she has failed to do so far.”
All of the woman’s previous lawyers have been the subject of her complaints.
After being called a “dud” and a “buffoon” by Boone, Frank Bankowitz, the sixth attorney to represent the alleged killer, withdrew from the case.
After the defendant filed complaints about their communication styles with the court, the seventh attorney withdrew from the case.
During the hearing on Friday, the attorney challenged Boone’s remarks, stating that she had spent numerous hours with him and even received calls from him while he was in jail. The attorney argued that it was Boone who refused to work with her, as she had been willing to cooperate throughout the case.
In court, she shared, “I have dedicated more than 20 hours to reviewing her inquiries and lists. Despite my attempts to provide her with updates on recent depositions, she chose to leave the jail conference. Furthermore, when I attempted to go over some discovery-related matters to ensure that she was informed, she simply walked out.”
