WICHITA, Kansas — Authorities have identified 18-year-old Kadrian Jackson as the victim of a deadly crash that occurred early Sunday morning, allegedly caused by a reckless motorcyclist.
According to the Wichita Police Department (WPD), the incident took place near Central and Hydraulic when Jackson’s SUV overturned following a violent collision with a motorcycle.
Accident Details
When officers and Wichita Fire Department crews arrived at the scene, they discovered Jackson trapped beneath his overturned SUV.
Emergency responders quickly extricated him, and EMS transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:45 a.m.
Two other passengers inside the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the motorcyclist was also treated for medical injuries.
How the Crash Happened
Preliminary reports indicate that Jackson’s SUV was traveling westbound on Central Avenue, passing through a green traffic light, when the northbound motorcycle on Hydraulic allegedly ran a red light and collided with the SUV’s rear-left side. The impact caused the SUV to flip over, trapping Jackson inside.
WPD spokesperson Andrew Ford confirmed that the 32-year-old motorcyclist may have been impaired at the time of the crash, a factor now under investigation.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Authorities revealed that toxicology tests are currently underway to confirm whether impairment played a role in the collision.
Once results are available, the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office will review the findings to determine potential charges.
As of now, the motorcyclist does not appear in Sedgwick County Jail booking records, and the investigation remains ongoing.
