‘No Kings’ Protest and March Planned in Topeka This Saturday

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — A “No Kings” protest and march will take place this Saturday in Topeka. Labeled “No Thrones, No Crowns, No Kings”, the peaceful demonstration runs from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, on the south lawn of the Kansas Statehouse, located at 300 S.W. 10th Ave., downtown Topeka.

Organizers & Purpose

This event is part of a larger National Day of Action, coordinated by the Kansas 50501 Group. The organizers intend to amplify voices from Topeka all the way to Washington, D.C.

In a press release, they announced they would hand out free whistles and horns and host a “Clang and Bang” booth to let participants create noise.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own costumes, whistles, drums, and pots and pans to contribute to the collective sound.

Planned Activities

The protest is more than just a march — it will include:

  • Live performances by local singers
  • A march route encircling the Statehouse and passing through downtown Topeka
  • A crown-decorating station
  • A food drive to support those affected by recent layoffs

Commitment to Peaceful Protest & Safety

Organizers emphasize the demonstration’s foundation of nonviolent protest and public safety. They are trained in de-escalation techniques and coordinating with community partners to guarantee a peaceful yet powerful action as part of a nationwide movement.

The upcoming “No Kings” protest in Topeka promises to be a vibrant, community-driven event combining artistic expression, civic action, and mutual support.

With noise-making booths, musical performances, marches, and a food drive, the gathering aims to amplify voices peacefully and responsibly. Attendees are encouraged to join in the chorus—whistles, drums, and imagination welcome.
