A severe overnight crash in Kansas City left two people with life-threatening injuries after their vehicle flew over a guardrail and overturned into Brush Creek.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, emergency crews responded early Sunday morning to a dramatic scene near the Country Club Plaza.
What Happened?
Around 2:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of West Brush Creek Boulevard and Ward Parkway.
Authorities reported that a white four-door sedan was speeding westbound on Ward Parkway when the driver failed to navigate a curve leading into the southbound lanes.
Vehicle Launched Over Guardrail
Due to the high speed, the car vaulted over the guardrail and crashed into Brush Creek, landing upside down in the water. Members of the department’s Accident Investigation Section quickly arrived at the scene.
Critical Injuries Reported
Both the driver and passenger were rescued from the overturned vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. No additional vehicles were involved in the incident.
Investigation Continues
Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and further information will be released as more details become available.
The early-morning crash near the Country Club Plaza underscores the serious risks associated with high-speed driving. With both occupants suffering critical injuries, investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Authorities are urging drivers to navigate curves and parkway routes with caution, especially during overnight hours when visibility is low.
