A tragic rollover crash in northwest Kansas early Sunday morning has left one young man dead and another hospitalized with severe injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Old Highway 40 near Spring Hill Road, just outside the community of Victoria.
How the Crash Happened
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), a 2008 Ford F-250 was heading eastbound on Old Highway 40 when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver suddenly veered off the roadway.
The truck then re-entered the road near Spring Hill Road before crossing into the north ditch, where it rolled multiple times and eventually came to rest on its side.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, and authorities are working to reconstruct the crash to understand the sequence of events.
Victims Identified
Both occupants inside the truck were transported to a nearby hospital following the crash. The driver, a 20-year-old man from Winona, sustained suspected serious injuries and remains under medical care.
The passenger, identified as 20-year-old Hunter Lee Still of Sharon Springs, tragically succumbed to his injuries after arriving at the hospital. The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed his death later Sunday morning.

Authorities continue to examine what may have led to the vehicle losing control. KHP has not yet released details on whether speed, fatigue, weather, or other factors played a role.
