Chiefs Acknowledge Awareness of Abuse Allegations Involving Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed on Wednesday night that they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulating on social media that involve Rashee Rice, a wide receiver on their roster.

In a brief statement, the team said it is aware of the allegations and is currently in contact with the National Football League (NFL). The organization added that it would not comment further at this time.

Allegations Shared by Rice’s Ex-Girlfriend

The allegations were posted Wednesday afternoon on Instagram by Dacoda Nichole Jones, Rice’s former girlfriend and the mother of his two children.

In her post, Jones shared photos showing bruises and visible injuries on various parts of her body and stated that she endured years of abuse.

Although Jones did not name Rashee Rice directly, she identified the alleged abuser as the father of her children. The Chiefs’ statement also avoided explicitly naming Rice in connection with the accusations.

No Police Report Filed So Far

As of Wednesday night, no domestic violence police report had been filed by Jones in either Overland Park, Kansas, or Dallas, Texas—the two locations where she claims the abuse occurred.

Authorities in both jurisdictions have not confirmed any active investigation related to the claims at this time.

Rice’s Prior Legal Issues and NFL Suspension

The allegations come amid previous legal trouble for Rice. In July, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason.

Rice, now 25, pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges:

  • Collision involving serious bodily injury
  • Racing on a highway causing bodily injury

He received deferred adjudication, meaning the charges will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.

The crash involved six vehicles, and video footage showed Rice and four companions leaving the scene without checking on injured victims, fleeing on foot before police arrived.

Public Apology and NFL Discipline

Four days after the crash, Rice released a statement via Instagram, accepting full responsibility and apologizing to “everyone impacted.”

In August, the NFL suspended Rice for six games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. He served the suspension at the start of the current season.

The Kansas City Chiefs have acknowledged awareness of serious abuse allegations linked to Rashee Rice and confirmed communication with the NFL, while avoiding direct attribution.

Although no police report has been filed so far, the situation adds to Rice’s recent off-field controversies, including a felony crash case and an NFL suspension. Further developments are expected as authorities and the league assess the matter.
