Montgomery County, Kansas — Local law enforcement officials are actively investigating a suspect in connection with several alleged drug offenses following a Christmas Eve operation.
Stolen Vehicle Discovery Leads to Investigation
On December 24, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office located a stolen 2012 Hyundai passenger vehicle at a residence situated at 401 W. 1st Street in Cherryvale, Kansas.
The vehicle had previously been reported stolen from Wichita, prompting further inquiry by authorities.
Search Warrant Execution and Evidence Found
After identifying the stolen vehicle, deputies secured and carried out a search warrant for the residence and surrounding property.
While executing the warrant, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight inside the home. Based on this discovery, investigators obtained an amended search warrant specifically authorizing a narcotics search.
During the expanded search, deputies recovered more than three grams of methamphetamine, along with additional drug paraphernalia and materials commonly associated with drug distribution activities.
Arrest and Booking Details
As a result of the findings, Rachel McKenzie, a resident of Cherryvale, Kansas, was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Department of Corrections.
She was formally booked on charges including distribution of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to publicly available online jail records, McKenzie was released from custody after posting bond several days later.
This incident highlights how routine investigations, such as recovering a stolen vehicle, can lead to broader criminal discoveries.
