Sporting Kansas City has taken a major step toward the future by signing 15-year-old midfielder Zamir Loyo Reynaga, a move that positions the highly rated youngster for a potential MLS debut in 2027. The agreement reflects the club’s long-term belief in his ability and development pathway.
Professional Contract And Long-Term Vision
Loyo Reynaga has signed an MLS Next Pro contract that will place him with Sporting KC II during the current season. If his progress continues as expected, he is projected to join Sporting Kansas City’s first team as early as next year.
The deal runs through the 2030–31 season, with an additional club option for 2031–32, underlining the organization’s commitment to his growth.
Club Leadership Praises His Potential
Sporting Kansas City president of soccer operations and general manager David Lee emphasized the importance of the signing, noting that Loyo Reynaga stood out immediately after Lee joined the club.
Lee explained that an early evaluation of the academy system revealed a midfielder with exceptional talent and high upside, even while competing at just 14 years old last season. He described the signing as a celebration but stressed that consistent development and patience remain essential.
Record-Breaking Start With Sporting KC II
Loyo Reynaga already holds a place in club history. On September 28, 2025, he became the youngest player ever to appear for Sporting KC II, debuting at 14 years and 251 days.
His rapid rise continued when he spent part of the 2026 preseason training with Sporting KC’s senior squad, gaining valuable exposure to the top level.
Journey Through The SKC Academy
The young midfielder joined the SKC Academy in 2023, first making waves with the Under-14 team at the Cronos Cup in December of that year. His technical ability, composure, and game intelligence quickly separated him from his peers.
Dual International Experience With USA And Mexico
At the international level, Loyo Reynaga has already represented both the United States and Mexico in youth competitions.
He attended a U.S. Under-14 national team camp last April, later featuring for Mexico’s U15 team in July. Most recently, he returned to the U.S. U15 setup for a domestic camp in September and is expected to rejoin the squad later this month in Cyprus.
