Officers from the sheriff’s office and US Marshals detained Nanjemoy resident Tehran Lebrons Butler on Wednesday, June 5, following an inquiry into his father’s shooting in May, authorities said.
Officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office received a call to investigate a reported shooting at around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The incident occurred in the 9100 block of Jessie Lizzy Place.
When they got there, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his face. Further investigation revealed that the shooter was acquainted with the victim and escaped through the nearby woods.
After the incident, the first responders combed the area in search of Butler. Despite their efforts, he managed to escape and evade them. Meanwhile, Butler’s father was rushed to the hospital, where he received medical attention for injuries that were not life-threatening.
On Wednesday, Butler was taken into custody without any incident in Bryans Road after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, and other related offenses.
The sheriff’s office has not yet disclosed any information regarding his first court appearance.
