Emporia Radio Fundraiser Raises $8,000 for Camp Hope

An on-air fundraiser in Emporia raised $8,000 for Camp Hope on Tuesday, October 27, giving the organization an early boost ahead of its Emporia Area Match Day campaign.

KVOE reported the result Tuesday evening after the three-hour broadcast fundraiser. Camp Hope board members Amanda Cunningham and Britton Hart joined the station to discuss the support and the work it would help fund.

The $8,000 figure is the reported result of the radio fundraiser. It should be kept separate from a final Match Day total, which had not yet been announced in the October 27 account.

What does Emporia’s Camp Hope do?

The local beneficiary is an inclusive summer program for children with autism. In an earlier KVOE explanation of its work, Executive Director Jessica Knuth described opportunities to learn, build relationships and practise life skills through community activities.

That earlier report identifies work on skills such as handling money, shopping and interacting with others. It supplies background on the local program; the new development is Tuesday’s completed fundraiser.

An October 26 interview preview also identifies board members Britton Hart and Hannah Kipfer discussing the program’s impact on students and the people who volunteer with it.

The local program’s identity matters when following donation information. Supporters should use the Emporia Match Day campaign listing linked in the October 27 result report.

Board members connect donations to summer programming

In Tuesday’s update, Cunningham said the funds would help with special programming and having qualified professionals available for campers, according to KVOE.

The report does not provide a line-by-line allocation of the $8,000. It would therefore be premature to attach a specific number of camper places or individual activities to the amount raised.

Match Day remains the next date to watch

KVOE’s account identifies November 16 as the Match Day deadline and directs supporters to Camp Hope’s campaign listing for the relevant donation information.

Anyone planning to contribute through Match Day should use the campaign’s current instructions for payment methods, timing and matching arrangements. The next complete fundraising picture will come when that campaign’s results are available.

For now, Tuesday’s reported $8,000 total records a new contribution from the Emporia-area community to Camp Hope’s ongoing work.
