On Sunday, March 23, 2025, a devastating incident occurred at the Agape’s Grace office building in Louisburg, Kansas.
A pickup truck veered off the road, crashing into the east wall of the building where Anthony Juarez, a dedicated firefighter from Drexel, Missouri, and his wife, Devin, were working.
Anthony tragically lost his life from his injuries, while Devin sustained a concussion and is expected to recover.
Remembering Anthony Juarez
Anthony Juarez, 33, was a cherished member of both the Drexel and Louisburg communities. He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Drexel Fire Department for nine years and was actively involved in various community events.
Beyond his firefighting duties, Anthony was a passionate musician, leading the band 68 Overpass, which performed at local venues, including Drexel’s Pumpkin Fest.
He also contributed to Agape’s Grace Inc., a nonprofit organization providing services to adults with disabilities in Louisburg.
Community Response and Support
In the wake of this tragedy, the communities of Louisburg and Drexel have come together to support the Juarez family.
A pancake benefit was organized at Louisburg’s American Legion, attracting over a thousand attendees. The initial goal was to raise $10,000, but the overwhelming generosity of the community resulted in over $15,000 within the first two hours.
Sammie Magee, a Louisburg teenager and founder of Sammie’s Toy Drive, initiated a collection of toys, household items, and gift cards for the Juarez family.
Magee’s nonprofit, established following the Uvalde tragedy, has expanded its efforts to support local families in need. An Amazon wishlist has been set up for the Juarez family, allowing community members to contribute directly to their needs.
Memorial at Agape’s Grace
A growing memorial has been established at the Agape’s Grace office site in Louisburg to honor Anthony Juarez’s contributions to the community.
The memorial features flowers and other items recognizing his dedication and service.
The tragic loss of Anthony Juarez has deeply affected the Louisburg and Drexel communities. However, the outpouring of support and unity displayed in honoring his memory exemplifies the strength and compassion of these communities.
Continued support for the Juarez family during this challenging time is a testament to the enduring spirit of community solidarity.
