Missing 15-Year-Old Girl Located Safe After Police Appeal

A 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing and endangered has been found safe, according to an update from local authorities.

The Andover Police Department previously asked members of the public to help locate Alison Marks after she was reported missing on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Police later confirmed that the teenager had been located and was safe, bringing the search to a positive conclusion.

Teenager Reported Missing on June 16

Alison was initially classified as a missing and endangered runaway by the Andover Police Department in Kansas.

Authorities said she was last seen on June 16. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance were not publicly explained, and officials did not disclose where she may have been heading when she was last observed.

Police circulated Alison’s photograph and identifying information through social media while asking residents to report any possible sightings. News outlets and community members also shared the appeal to expand its reach.

Because Alison was only 15, authorities treated the search as a matter of concern. Young runaways may face increased risks when they are away from their families, guardians or other trusted adults.

Conflicting Descriptions Appeared in Records

The original police appeal described Alison as approximately 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing around 85 pounds.

However, information displayed in the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s missing-person database provided different measurements. That listing reportedly described her as approximately 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds.

Both descriptions identified Alison as having brown hair and brown eyes.

Authorities did not explain why the measurements differed. Such discrepancies can sometimes occur when agencies receive information from different records, reporting parties or earlier documents.

During a missing-person search, recent photographs, clothing descriptions and verified sightings can therefore become especially valuable when written physical details conflict.

Police Confirm Safe Recovery

Following the public appeal, police announced that Alison had been located and was safe.

Officials did not reveal where she was found, who located her or whether she returned voluntarily. They also did not indicate how long she had been at the location where authorities found her.

No information was released suggesting that Alison suffered injuries or required medical treatment. Police also did not announce any arrests or indicate that criminal activity was suspected in connection with her disappearance.

Limited information is commonly provided after missing minors are recovered. Protecting the teenager’s privacy and allowing the family to address the circumstances privately may take priority once authorities confirm that the child is no longer missing.

Outdated Appeals Should Be Updated

Residents who shared Alison’s missing-person notice should update or remove those posts now that she has been located.

Continuing to circulate an outdated alert can create confusion, unnecessarily alarm community members and interfere with the privacy of the recovered teenager.

When sharing missing-person appeals, members of the public should rely on information from police agencies and check for updates before reposting older notices.

The public can still play an important role by quickly sharing verified alerts, reporting credible sightings directly to investigators and avoiding rumours or unsupported claims.

The search for Alison Marks ended safely after authorities confirmed that the 15-year-old had been located. Police have not disclosed where she was found or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

The confirmation provides relief following the public appeal, while allowing Alison and her family to address the situation privately.
