A late-night shooting near the 4300 block of Northern Avenue on Thursday has left one man dead and another hospitalized, according to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD).
Authorities responded to the scene just after 10 p.m., following reports of a disturbance involving multiple individuals in the area.
Police Discover Two Victims
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with gunshot wounds lying outside an apartment building. Emergency medical crews attempted to assist, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second adult male, also suffering from a gunshot wound, was located nearby. He was transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Investigators Suspect Dispute Turned Violent
Preliminary investigations indicate that a verbal or physical altercation among several individuals escalated into gunfire, resulting in the fatal shooting.
Detectives have not yet identified any suspects, and no arrests have been made as of Friday morning.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims, pending family notification.

Tips that lead to an arrest in the case may be eligible for a reward of up to $25,000.
