Kansas City Shooting in 18th and Vine District Leaves One Dead, Five Injured

Kansas City police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the city’s historic 18th and Vine district.

The incident took place around 2 a.m., when officers observed people running from the area near 19th and Vine, shouting that someone was firing a gun.

Multiple Victims Discovered at Scene

Responding officers quickly reached the scene and found one man fatally shot. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.

Additionally, authorities discovered five more gunshot victims — one woman and four men — who all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), all injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition and are currently recovering.

Suspect in Custody, Investigation Ongoing

Initial findings from the KCPD suggest that the violence broke out following a physical altercation that escalated into gunfire.

Police have taken one male suspect into custody, though the case remains under active investigation.
