President Donald Trump has announced that the 90-day suspension of global tariffs will not be extended past July 9, emphasizing his administration’s readiness to impose new trade penalties unless countries finalize individual trade agreements with the United States.
Tariff Letters to Be Sent Ahead of Deadline
Trump stated that countries will soon receive letters outlining the tariffs they face. The letters will notify them of a 25%, 35%, or even 50% tariff on goods exported to the U.S., unless a bilateral deal is struck.
“We’re allowing you to shop in the United States,” Trump said, “but you’re going to pay.”
Despite noting the challenge of negotiating with 200 countries, Trump said the administration is continuing efforts to secure deals.
TikTok Sale Could Be Imminent
Trump also revealed that a group of wealthy investors is prepared to purchase TikTok, currently owned by China’s ByteDance.
While he did not disclose the names involved, he suggested China’s approval may be needed and expressed optimism about the deal moving forward within “two weeks.”
This comes after Trump signed an executive order earlier this month, extending TikTok’s U.S. operation by 90 days, giving his administration time to secure American ownership of the app.
Trump Claims Iran’s Nuclear Program Was Crippled
The President also declared that recent U.S. airstrikes “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear facilities, effectively halting their progress toward a nuclear weapon — at least temporarily.
While Iranian officials denied the claim and maintained their program’s peaceful purpose, international nuclear experts confirmed significant damage to facilities, though not a total loss.
Trump criticized the leak of preliminary intelligence reports, calling for prosecution of those responsible and questioning journalists about their sources.
