A major technology company is set to construct a new $10 billion campus across 500 acres in Kansas City’s Northland, marking one of the region’s most significant tech investments to date.
The Port KC Board of Commissioners has officially approved $10 billion in taxable revenue bonds to finance the development, codenamed “Project Mica.” The project will be located near the northeast intersection of Interstate 435 and Highway 169.

According to Port KC, the development is backed by one of the world’s top tech firms. The proposed tech campus will feature five hyper-scale data centers, each contributing to a powerful digital infrastructure network.

Phased Construction Timeline
The full build-out of Project Mica will occur in multiple phases. The first phase, which includes site preparation and construction of the first data center building, is expected to take 18 months.
