Looking for something fun and creative to do in August? If you’re a middle school or high school student in Emporia, Kansas, the Emporia Public Library has a brand-new event just for you. It’s called Find Your Funny, and it’s a week-long program that helps teens learn all about comedy. From writing jokes to performing in front of an audience, this program is all about discovering your funny side—and having a blast while doing it!
What Is the “Find Your Funny” Program?
The Emporia Public Library is hosting a special comedy program this August for youth in grades 6 through 12. This event is perfect for anyone who loves to laugh, tell jokes, or wants to try something new and exciting.
Find Your Funny will run for one week on these dates:
- Tuesday, August 12
- Thursday, August 14
- Friday, August 15
Each session is from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the library. During the sessions, participants will explore different types of comedy, including stand-up comedy, improv, and sketch comedy.
What Will You Learn?
Participants won’t just sit and listen—they’ll be actively involved in learning the basics of comedy. The program includes:

This final showcase will give participants the chance to perform short routines or skits they’ve created throughout the week. It’s a celebration of your creativity, humor, and courage to try something new.
