Communication Federal Credit Union (CFCU) officially broke ground on June 17 for a new branch located at 16209 Ironstone Drive, positioned near Portland Avenue and NW 164th Street.
This upcoming location will primarily serve members in the Deer Creek and Edmond communities.
Expanding Services Across Oklahoma City
Based in Oklahoma City, CFCU was established in 1939 and now supports a growing membership of over 130,000 individuals.
With more than $2 billion in assets, the credit union operates 22 branches throughout Oklahoma and Kansas.
President and CEO Larry Shropshire shared that this new branch—conveniently situated along Highway 74—will help better meet the needs of existing members while offering easier access to those in north Oklahoma City.
“We’re enthusiastic about expanding in Deer Creek,” said Shropshire. “This location along Highway 74 will enhance our ability to serve the financial needs of our current members and introduce more convenient services to the residents of Deer Creek, Edmond, and Oklahoma City.”
Modern Features and Member Convenience
The branch will incorporate modern amenities including:
- A multi-lane drive-thru
- Drive-up ATM
- Safe deposit boxes
- A design tailored for both in-person and digital banking
CFCU aims to have the new branch operational by early 2026.
Design and Construction Teams
The architectural design is led by The McKinney Partnership based in Norman, while Miller-Tippens Construction from Oklahoma City is serving as the general contractor for the project.
The launch of this new Edmond-area Communication Federal Credit Union branch highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, innovation, and community support.
