Conley Avenue Parking Garage Set to Reopen August 1 After Major Repairs

The Conley Avenue Parking Structure at the University of Missouri (MU) is scheduled to reopen on August 1, following the successful completion of a $5.5 million maintenance and repair project, MU Parking and Transportation announced in a campus-wide email.

Closure Due to Safety Concerns

The parking facility was temporarily closed in August 2024 after an inspection revealed issues with its tension cables, raising concerns about the structure’s stability. MU spokesperson Christopher Ave had previously stated in October 2024 that the repairs would be completed by fall 2025.

Goal of the Maintenance Project

The extensive maintenance work was aimed at prolonging the lifespan of the structure, which is considered one of the most heavily utilized parking garages on campus. The repairs were initiated to ensure safety and long-term functionality for students, staff, and faculty.

Parking Access Resumes Without Hassle

Parking permit holders assigned to the Conley Avenue garage can resume parking there on August 1 without needing to take any further steps, according to the update from MU Parking and Transportation.

New Parking Program and Shuttle Launching Simultaneously

The reopening of the garage also aligns with the launch of the university’s new parking program and campus-wide shuttle service, both of which are also set to begin on August 1. These updates were initially introduced during a Faculty Council meeting in February as part of a broader transportation overhaul on campus.

The reopening of the Conley Avenue Parking Structure marks the completion of a critical infrastructure project at MU, improving both safety and convenience for the university community.

With new parking initiatives and shuttle service launching simultaneously, August 1 signals a significant upgrade in MU’s campus transportation system.
