Coach Robinson Praises the Team’s Determination

Head Coach Michael Robinson shared how proud he was of his runners for performing well despite the rain.

“Everyone showed up ready to run. Our region is tough, and I’m proud of how hard they competed,” Robinson said.
“Rainy weather makes it fun. We focus on things we can control—like warm-ups and wearing spikes. The rest doesn’t matter.”

Robinson emphasized that mental preparation plays a huge role in cross country running, especially when weather conditions add extra challenges.

Preparing for the State Meet at Rim Rock

Now, the coach’s focus is on Delgado and Evans as they gear up for the State Championship at Rim Rock Farm. Since both runners have prior experience competing at this level, Robinson plans to keep their training steady and focused.

“They know what to expect,” said Robinson. “The goal is to stay in routine, prepare mentally, and run their own race.”

He also mentioned that weather will again be a key factor. Current forecasts predict cool and sunny conditions, but the team is ready to adjust if that changes.

Looking Ahead to the Final Race

The Rim Rock course is known for its unique terrain and exciting challenges, making it a fitting finale for the Spartan runners. With their strong season performances, both Delgado and Evans aim to end the season on a high note when they race at Rim Rock Farm on November 1.

Their determination, experience, and team spirit make them strong contenders to finish among Kansas’ best.

The Emporia High Cross Country team has showcased exceptional determination, teamwork, and discipline this season. Despite rainy conditions and a tough regional competition, they managed to shine through.

As Delgado and Evans prepare for the State Meet, their journey represents the true spirit of Kansas athletics—hard work, resilience, and heart.
