Hickman Mills School District Honors Community Leaders With School Renamings​

In a heartfelt tribute to two distinguished community leaders, the Hickman Mills C-1 School District (HMC-1) has announced the renaming of two of its schools.

Starting from the next academic year, the current Hickman Mills South Middle School will be known as Alvin Brooks Middle School, and the Ervin Early Learning Center will be renamed the John Sharp Early Education Center.

This decision comes after a unanimous vote by the HMC-1 Board of Education in January 2025, following recommendations from Superintendent Dr. Yaw Obeng and the district’s Community Engagement Committee.
