The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is seeking urgent community support after rescuing 11 animals in critical condition over the weekend.
The organization announced the rescues on Monday, June 23, and emphasized the immediate need for medical funding and foster care.
Blind Puppies Found Outside Feed Store
On Saturday, shelter staff responded to a call at a local Kansas feed store, where five blind puppies were being given away for free.
The entire litter suffers from severe eye conditions, with some requiring surgical eye removal and others needing more complex medical procedures.
Sick Kittens and Injured Pup Also Rescued
In a separate incident that same day, a litter of five sick kittens was found abandoned on the Humane Society’s property.
Shortly after, a young dog suffering from a severely embedded collar injury was also brought in for emergency treatment.
Shelter Pleads for Public Support
The Humane Society has issued an urgent plea for donations and foster assistance to help provide care for the rescued animals.
The costs of treatment, surgeries, and recovery are expected to be substantial, and the organization relies heavily on community contributions to meet these needs.
With 11 animals rescued in just one weekend—many needing immediate and intensive medical attention—the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is calling on local residents to step up and help save lives.
Donations, fostering, and supplies are all urgently needed.
