In a remarkable achievement, Emily Almloff, a 22-year-old from Kansas City, has become the youngest licensed architect in the United States. As of April 25, 2025, she is officially registered in Missouri and has joined HFG Architecture as a full-time healthcare architect.

Emily’s aspiration to become an architect began at the age of 16. Driven by a passion for design and its impact on well-being, she pursued her goals with unwavering commitment.
“Architecture has the unique potential to support people’s well-being, sometimes in ways they might not even realize,” Emily shared. “Good design shouldn’t be a luxury.”

She graduated from the University of Kansas in the fall of 2024, completing her studies with honors.
Rigorous Licensure Process
To achieve licensure, Emily completed:
- 3,740 hours of work experience through internships, volunteer opportunities, and her time at HFG Architecture
- Six Architect Registration Exams (AREs) between January and February 2025, taking nearly one exam each week.
“It was a lot of work, but I wanted to take advantage of everything I had learned and not lose that momentum,” Emily explained.

Emily’s association with HFG Architecture began in 2023 during a graduate internship. Recognizing her talent and dedication, HFG welcomed her as a full-time healthcare architect upon her licensure.
