KCPD Investigates Deadly Early Morning Shooting In Kansas City

In the early hours of Sunday, March 23, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded on Kansas City’s North Oak Trafficway, resulting in the death of an adult male.

The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this homicide, though no suspects have been identified at this time.​

At approximately 2:30 a.m., KCPD officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 7800 block of North Oak Trafficway.

Upon arrival, officers found several individuals attempting to assist an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.​

Despite medical efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries around 7:00 a.m. KCPD investigators believe the incident stemmed from a verbal dispute between the victim and the shooter, which escalated to gunfire.

As of now, no suspects have been identified, and KCPD’s crime scene personnel and detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.​
