Missouri Businesses and Residents Eligible for SBA Disaster Relief Loans Following June Storms

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the release of low-interest federal disaster loans to support Missouri businesses, private nonprofits, and residents impacted by extreme weather on June 29.

This includes straight-line winds, heavy rain, large hail, and flash flooding. The assistance comes following a formal disaster declaration issued in response to a request from Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe on July 25.

Affected Missouri Counties

The SBA’s declaration applies to the following counties:

  • Christian
  • Dade
  • Dallas
  • Greene
  • Lawrence
  • Polk
  • Webster

Loan Options for Businesses and Nonprofits

Eligible businesses and nonprofits may apply for Business Physical Disaster Loans of up to $2 million to cover the repair or replacement of:

  • Damaged real estate
  • Machinery and equipment
  • Inventory
  • Business assets

Additionally, Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are available to qualifying businesses and private nonprofit (PNP) organizations—including faith-based groups and nurseries—that have suffered financial setbacks due to the disaster.

However, agricultural producers, farmers, and ranchers (excluding aquaculture enterprises) do not qualify for EIDL loans.

Homeowners and Renters Also Eligible

  • Homeowners may borrow up to $500,000 to repair or replace primary residences.
  • Renters and homeowners can receive up to $100,000 to replace personal belongings, including furniture, clothing, vehicles, and appliances.

In some cases, applicants may qualify for an additional 20% increase in their loan for mitigation improvements—such as insulating walls, weatherproofing, and storm-proofing homes and businesses against future damage.

Interest Rates and Terms

Loan interest rates are:

  • 4.00% for businesses
  • 3.625% for nonprofits
  • 2.813% for homeowners and renters

Loan terms extend up to 30 years, with no payments due for the first 12 months. Loan amounts and terms are determined based on each applicant’s financial status.

Application Support and Deadlines

Starting Wednesday, July 30, SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) will be open in Missouri to assist with:

  • Answering questions
  • Providing application help
  • Explaining recovery options

Walk-ins are welcome, or applicants can schedule appointments in advance at: appointment.sba.gov

Important Deadlines

  • Physical damage applications must be submitted by September 26, 2025
  • Economic injury applications must be submitted by April 28, 2026

SBA Leadership Emphasizes Local Recovery Support

SBA’s Disaster Loan Outreach Centers are essential in helping communities bounce back from crisis,” said Chris Stallings, Associate Administrator of SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience.

“Our specialists are committed to assisting small business owners, homeowners, and residents with understanding their options and applying for the aid they need.”

The SBA’s disaster loan programs offer a crucial financial lifeline for Missouri residents and businesses reeling from the severe weather in June.

With generous loan terms, mitigation support, and extended deadlines, this initiative aims to rebuild communities and safeguard them from future disasters.
