The median home price in Missouri soared to an all-time high in the first half of 2025, reaching $269,000, as revealed in a June report by Missouri Realtors. This marks the highest recorded median selling price in the state’s housing market history.
Boone County Defies Statewide Trends
Despite the statewide sales decline, Boone County’s real estate market remains resilient, according to Columbia Realtor Alice Leeper.
“We’re still really pretty strong,” said Leeper.
She emphasized that unit sales in Boone County rose by 6% month-over-month, and were approximately 8% higher than the same period in 2024.
Sales Volume Hits Lowest Point in a Decade
While prices climb, home sales across Missouri have declined. The report noted that 34,690 residential properties were sold statewide through June — the lowest midyear total since at least 2015.
Leeper explained that the dip isn’t overly significant:
“The number is slightly less year-to-date than it was last year, and by slightly less, I mean like four-tenths of a percent,” she said.
This indicates a marginal year-over-year decrease in statewide home sales, not a dramatic drop, even as property values surge.
Missouri’s housing market presents a unique picture in 2025: record-high home prices coupled with the lowest midyear sales volume in a decade.
While statewide sales have slightly dipped, counties like Boone demonstrate localized strength and growing buyer interest.
These mixed signals reflect a market in transition, shaped by both limited inventory and rising home values.
