A Pittsburg State University softball player, who is still on the road to recovery after a devastating accident in July, made a heartfelt return to campus this past Family Day.

Kendall Forbes, a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, had the honor of leading the football team down the Gorilla Walk before their matchup against Fort Hays State. The moment marked her first major appearance on campus since her accident.

Forbes had been preparing to begin her senior year at Pitt State when the crash happened. According to her family, a speeding vehicle struck the driver’s side door of her car. The impact was so severe that she was ejected from the vehicle and landed in a nearby ditch.
