Pointe Vista Ballot Petition Gains Support in Marshall County

Pointe Vista Ballot Petition Gains Support in Marshall County

Momentum is building behind a petition to put the Pointe Vista development project on the ballot in Marshall County, Oklahoma.

The proposed resort and recreation project along Lake Texoma aims to bring major economic activity to the area — but needs voter approval to proceed.

The initiative requires 1,000 valid signatures, equating to 10% of registered county voters, to qualify for a public vote.

As of now, more than 600 residents have signed the petition, signaling growing local interest and potential approval.

Focus on Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District

At the core of the proposal is the creation of a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District, which would allow Pointe Vista to retain 75% of county-generated tax revenue.

These funds would be used specifically to develop and enhance infrastructure within the project area, such as roads, utilities, and other essential services.

Despite the potential economic benefits, the plan was rejected by Marshall County commissioners last month.

Now, the petition seeks to bypass local government opposition and put the decision directly in the hands of the voting public.

How and Where to Sign the Petition

Residents can sign the petition this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Atwoods in Madill. Additional signature locations will be posted on the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Facebook page, offering multiple opportunities for community members to participate in shaping the future of their region.

The Pointe Vista development represents a major investment in Marshall County’s tourism and infrastructure landscape.

With strong public support already emerging, the petition could soon secure the required signatures, triggering a public vote that may decide the project’s fate.

As the community weighs the benefits of job creation, tourism revenue, and infrastructure upgrades, the campaign for Pointe Vista continues to gather momentum.
