Shawnee County Concludes 2025 General Election, Releases Official Certified Results

Shawnee County has officially published the certified results of the 2025 general election, following a detailed review of all provisional ballots on Monday, Nov. 17.

County officials examined every ballot that required verification to ensure an accurate and lawful tabulation.

Approximately 230 provisional ballots were submitted for reasons such as address updates, voters appearing at incorrect polling locations, or uncertainties involving registration status.

According to state law, the County Board of Canvassers must determine which ballots meet legal criteria to be counted—decisions that can influence the outcome of closely contested races.

How Election Officials Verified Ballots

Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell explained the review process:

“We categorize each ballot by reason, present them in groups, and evaluate them based on applicable law,” he said. “The goal is to make a final determination on every ballot and then release the fully certified results.”
