A devastating fire in northwest Oklahoma City on Wednesday evening has left six individuals injured, including five residents and one firefighter, according to the Oklahoma City Fire Department (OCFD).
The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. near Northwest 82nd Street and North Western Avenue, where emergency teams responded to reports of a commercial apartment fire.
Flames Spread Across Two Buildings
Upon arrival, firefighters found one building fully engulfed in flames and smoke. The fire soon spread to a second building, prompting an intense multi-department response.
OCFD Shift Commander David Shearer reported that both structures are likely a total loss due to the extensive damage.
Injuries and Emergency Response
Authorities confirmed the following details:
- Three individuals jumped from the second story to escape the flames.
- Of those, one is in critical condition, one in serious condition, and two were treated at the scene and released.
- A fourth person was injured while attempting to catch one of the jumpers.
- One firefighter sustained injuries during the operation.
The Nichols Hills Fire Department also provided assistance during the response effort.
Investigation Underway
As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not yet determined what triggered the blaze, but fire inspectors are actively examining the scene.
