Swig, the popular Utah-based “dirty soda” chain, is rapidly expanding its presence in Overland Park, Kansas, with several new drive-thru locations under development.
After launching its first Johnson County store in Mission this June, the company is preparing to open multiple new shops across the city — starting with Glenwood Commons.
New Glenwood Commons Location Nears Completion
Construction is in progress for a new Swig drive-thru soda shop at 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue, located in the Glenwood Commons shopping center.
The shop will be positioned next to Summer Moon Coffee, Wingstop, and across from the SERV food hall and pickleball venue.
According to Jeremy Assmus, the local franchise owner, this location is expected to open by late August or early September 2025.
Bluhawk and 135th & Quivira Locations Also Planned
Swig’s expansion doesn’t stop at Glenwood Commons. The brand is actively working on two additional sites in Overland Park:
- A location near 135th Street and Quivira Road, projected to open by August 2025
- A shop in the Bluhawk development, located off 159th Street and U.S. Highway 69, with a tentative opening set for late 2025
These new openings are part of Swig’s broader growth strategy in the Kansas City metro area.
What Is a ‘Dirty Soda’?
Swig has built a cult following around its “dirty” sodas — classic sodas enhanced with flavored syrups and creams. The brand offers a wide variety of inventive combinations. Some fan favorites include:
- Texas Tab: Dr Pepper, vanilla, and coconut cream
- Hula Girl: Sprite mixed with lemonade, mango, pineapple, strawberry, and coconut cream
