A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a stray bullet late Monday night in St. Louis City’s Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood. The incident has raised concerns about community safety and the prevalence of gun violence affecting innocent bystanders.
Incident Details
The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. in the 5700 block of Goodfellow Place. Officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and discovered the teenager inside his residence, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
Investigations suggest that gunfire erupted outside the apartment complex, with one of the bullets penetrating the apartment wall and striking the boy.
Victim’s Condition
Despite his injury, the teen managed to walk to the ambulance and was transported to the hospital. He remains in critical condition. Authorities have stated there is no evidence suggesting the child was the intended target.
