In an effort to reduce financial barriers to college readiness, the Tulsa Higher Education Consortium has partnered with Thunder Fellows to offer a free ACT boot camp for high school students.
The initiative provides a valuable resource for students who might otherwise struggle to afford ACT prep courses, which can range from $100 to several thousand dollars.
“This is such a great offer to have it for free,” said Chantelle Lot of the Tulsa Higher Education Consortium. “We want to support students in Tulsa as they pursue college opportunities.”
Two-Day Boot Camp Set for July 8 and July 10
The ACT boot camp will be held on two separate days:
- Tuesday, July 8 – Focus on Math and Reading
- Thursday, July 10 – Focus on English and Science
Students are not required to attend both sessions, but they are encouraged to do so if they wish to maximize their preparation.
Open to Students in Grades 9–12, Limited to 50 Spots
The program is open to students entering grades 9 through 12, with a maximum capacity of 50 participants. This limited enrollment ensures that each student receives personalized instruction and support.
Focus on Test Strategies, Confidence, and Content Mastery
In addition to reviewing key subject areas, the boot camp will emphasize test-taking strategies, time management, and building student confidence.
Facilitators will help students understand the structure of the ACT and how to approach each section effectively.
“This program will prepare students for the upcoming September 6 ACT test,” said Lot. “They’ll work with professional instructors who will guide them through answering questions correctly and efficiently.”
The collaboration between the Tulsa Higher Education Consortium and Thunder Fellows aims to provide equitable access to ACT preparation.
With spots limited and demand likely high, interested students are encouraged to register early and take advantage of this unique, no-cost opportunity to improve their college admissions readiness.
