In the wake of devastating floods in central Texas that began on July 4, Victory Christian Church in Oklahoma has launched a significant relief effort to support affected communities.
Staff members organized semi-trucks loaded with emergency supplies—including food, bottled water, and flashlights—aimed at bringing immediate assistance to those impacted by the natural disaster.
Texas Floods Leave Devastation in Their Wake
According to Texas officials, the floods have claimed the lives of at least 79 individuals, with 11 children still missing following the inundation of a summer camp near the Guadalupe River, where water levels surged up to 26 feet.
Church’s Mission: Bringing Light and Hope
Daniel Henshaw, the Executive Pastor at Victory Christian Church, emphasized the church’s commitment to providing relief during times of crisis.
“We are called to bring light and hope into situations of darkness,” Henshaw said.
He expressed pride in Oklahoma’s culture of generosity and compassion.
“This is who we are as Oklahomans. Whether it’s across the street or in a neighboring state, we show up when there’s a need,” he added.
Mobilizing Volunteers for Recovery and Rebuilding
Beyond sending physical supplies, the church is also preparing to deploy volunteers to help with clean-up and reconstruction efforts.
Henshaw noted that many community members are already stepping forward, offering not just their skills but also their time and empathy.
“What defines us is the willingness to care, to act. People here are saying, ‘I have time, I have skills, and I care deeply.’”
Donation Drop-Off Location and Needed Items
Victory Christian Church is continuing to collect additional relief items to support the flood victims.
Essential goods like towels, shampoo, soap, and other hygiene products are currently being accepted at the church’s main lobby, located near 81st Street and Lewis Avenue in Tulsa.
Extending Help Beyond State Lines
Henshaw emphasized that while the church remains committed to its own community, its mission extends far beyond state boundaries.
“Whether it’s helping here at home or across the country, our heart is to serve wherever the need is greatest,” he said.
As Texas grapples with the aftermath of severe flooding, Victory Christian Church exemplifies compassionate action and regional solidarity.
Through donations, volunteer efforts, and a spirit of giving, the church is playing a vital role in both immediate relief and long-term recovery.
Their response showcases the resilient and generous heart of Oklahoma, proving that even in times of crisis, light can shine through.
