A 26-year-old man is in police custody following a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon in west Wichita, Kansas.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 12:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of West Pine Street, a typically quiet residential area.
According to the Wichita Police Department, the gunfire reportedly stemmed from a disturbance between individuals at the location.
When officers arrived, they were informed that the victim had already been transported to a hospital by a private vehicle.
Victim Identified as Sauhni Stallings
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Sauhni Stallings, a Wichita resident. Despite receiving emergency medical attention, Stallings later died from his injuries at the hospital.
This marks one of several violent incidents in the area in recent months, prompting increased concern among local residents.
Suspect Booked on Murder Charge
Following a swift investigation at the scene and in coordination with detectives, police arrested a 26-year-old male suspect.
He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a preliminary charge of second-degree murder. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name, pending formal charges.
