After a noticeably cool weekend, a significant shift in the weather pattern is set to bring brighter skies and much warmer conditions beginning tomorrow.
Mild Air Moves In on Southerly Winds
A change in wind direction will allow warmer air to flow northward, pushing temperatures into the mid to upper 60s across the Ozarks.
While this warm spell won’t quite match the exceptional warmth felt around the Christmas holiday, readings will still sit more than 20 degrees above what’s typical for this time of year.
Warm Start to the Workweek
The pleasant temperatures are expected to stick around into the early part of the workweek. Highs in the 60s will continue through at least midweek, accompanied by mostly sunny skies. Rain is not expected through Wednesday, keeping conditions dry and comfortable.
Rain Chances Return Thursday
Relief from the dry stretch may finally arrive on Thursday. A dip in the jet stream is forecast to set up a pathway for moisture across the Midwest, giving the Ozarks a long-awaited opportunity for rainfall.
Forecast models are still showing some differences, which adds a degree of uncertainty. Even so, most areas are likely to receive between half an inch and one inch of rain, with a few locations potentially seeing higher amounts.
Limited Storm Risk
Widespread severe weather is not anticipated with this system. However, forecasters note that a brief or isolated thunderstorm remains possible on Thursday.
End-of-Week Outlook
Rain should taper off by Friday, allowing drier weather and more seasonable temperatures to return. Current indications suggest the upcoming weekend will be calm and comfortable.
In summary, the Ozarks are set to enjoy a welcome warmup with sunny skies and above-average temperatures early in the week.
A modest rain event is expected Thursday, bringing beneficial moisture without a major severe weather threat, before quieter and more seasonal conditions settle in for the weekend.
