A woman in her 30s is in the hospital after being stabbed multiple times during a violent altercation in midtown Wichita on Monday evening.
According to the Wichita Police Department (WPD), first responders were dispatched shortly before 8 p.m. to the 100 block of West 12th Street after receiving a report of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers found the injured woman suffering from several stab wounds.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital, though the extent of her injuries has not yet been released to the public.
“Very Physical Disturbance,” Says Police
Sergeant Jordan Edison described the incident as a “very physical disturbance”, though details remain scarce. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or determined what type of weapon was used in the attack.
Police are actively gathering evidence at the scene, speaking with witnesses and neighbors in the area to piece together what led up to the stabbing.
Suspect Believed to Be Known to Victim
Captain Aaron Moses of the WPD stated that the attack does not appear to be random. Authorities believe the victim and suspect knew each other, suggesting the stabbing may have stemmed from a personal dispute or confrontation.
