Iran War Live: U.S. and Tehran Report ‘Positive Progress’ After Indirect Talks

Qatar has reported “positive progress” after the United States and Iran completed indirect technical discussions in Doha. The talks focused on matters linked to the memorandum of understanding, or MoU, that was signed on June 17.

While the discussions were not direct, they suggest that communication between Washington and Tehran is continuing through diplomatic channels.

U.S. and Iran Hold Indirect Talks in Doha

The indirect technical talks between the United States and Iran took place in Doha, with Qatar playing a key mediation role.

According to Qatar, the discussions produced positive movement on issues connected to the June 17 MoU. The agreement remains central to the ongoing diplomatic process between both sides.

Tehran Announces Communication Channel With Washington

Iran said a new “communication channel” will be created with the United States.

According to Tehran, this channel will be used to report, discuss and address any alleged violations of the MoU. The move indicates that both sides may continue exchanging messages even without direct negotiations.

Iran Protests at the United Nations

Iran also filed a protest at the United Nations over Israel’s latest threat against its Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Tehran described the threat as an act of “state terrorism,” raising further concerns about escalating tensions in the region.

Violence Continues in Gaza and Southern Lebanon

In Gaza, Israeli forces killed five Palestinians.

At the same time, Israeli attacks continued in southern Lebanon despite so-called ceasefire agreements. These developments highlight the fragile nature of current regional arrangements and the ongoing risk of further conflict.

Qatar’s announcement of positive progress after indirect U.S.-Iran technical talks in Doha suggests that diplomatic communication remains active, even without direct meetings between Washington and Tehran. The planned communication channel may help both sides report and discuss alleged breaches of the June 17 MoU.

However, Iran’s protest at the United Nations over Israel’s threat against Mojtaba Khamenei, along with continued deadly violence in Gaza and attacks in southern Lebanon, shows that regional tensions remain highly unstable.
