A dramatic crime spree unfolded in the Kansas City metro area, culminating in the arrest of 28-year-old Weston R. Womack of Kansas City, Missouri.
Federal and local law-enforcement officials say Womack is charged with four separate bank robberies over two consecutive days, targeting institutions in Kansas City and nearby Gladstone. His rapid arrest followed surveillance, a vehicle tip-off and a tactical intervention.

The suspect is accused of executing the robberies on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025. The four banks targeted, their times, approximate losses and modus operandi are laid out in the table below.

Arrest & Vehicle Details
Shortly after the fourth robbery on Thursday, law-enforcement observed the red/maroon Jeep believed linked to the crimes near Highway 71 and East 39th Street in Kansas City.
The tactical unit for the Kansas City Police Department attempted to block the vehicle at 39th Street and Paseo Blvd. During the attempted stop, Womack slid to the passenger seat, exited the vehicle on foot, and was tackled and taken into custody.
Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a large amount of cash and clothing consistent with the surveillance images from the robberies.
Following the arrest, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and federal prosecutors filed charges in the Western District of Missouri. This brings the suspect into federal jurisdiction, raising the potential for enhanced penalties given the string of robberies across state lines and multiple institutions.
Modus Operandi & Law Enforcement Response
Investigators say the suspect consistently used hand-written notes delivered to tellers to demand cash—rather than overtly brandishing a weapon. In each case the suspect donned all-black attire, a mask, sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt, raising suspicions immediately.
The rapid succession of robberies (two per day) triggered alert mechanisms and enabled law enforcement to piece together vehicle and surveillance leads quickly. The license-plate reader linking the red Jeep to the area near the third robbery was a key breakthrough.
Significance & Community Impact
The robberies created alarm in a short span across the Kansas City metro area, particularly given the repetition, method and timing (mid-week). The fact that four robberies occurred in roughly 36 hours added urgency.
The relatively low individual cash amounts reflect more “grab-and-go” style hit rather than long-planned heist; nonetheless, the pattern suggests an elevated risk to bank personnel and bystanders. The successful joint local-federal response highlights the effectiveness of surveillance and plate-reader technology in concert with old-fashioned detective work.
