Statewide Silver Alert Issued For Missing Man With Dementia

A Statewide Silver Alert has been issued for 78-year-old Oval N. Glinn after authorities said his whereabouts became unknown Friday evening.

The Overland Park Police Department requested that the Kansas Bureau of Investigation issue the alert, asking the public to help locate Glinn as quickly as possible. Officials said he has dementia, increasing concern for his safety.

Authorities are urging anyone who sees Glinn or his vehicle to call 911 immediately.

Last Seen Driving A Silver SUV

Police said Glinn was last known to be driving a silver 2011 Chevrolet Equinox with an expired Missouri license plate reading VE1C9E.

His vehicle was last seen around 8:10 p.m. traveling north from the area of West 61st Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas.

Investigators have not released details about where he may have been headed or whether he was familiar with the area where he was last seen.

Description Released By Authorities

Glinn is described as a white male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 220 pounds.

He has gray hair, green eyes and a mustache. Police said he has dementia, which may make it difficult for him to safely find his way home or communicate clearly with others.

Because of his age and medical condition, authorities are treating the case as urgent.

Why Silver Alerts Are Issued

Silver Alerts are used to help locate missing adults, especially older adults or people with medical conditions that may place them at risk.

These alerts are designed to quickly share identifying details with the public, including a person’s name, age, description, vehicle information and last known location.

In cases involving dementia, time can be especially important. A person may become confused, drive farther than intended or be unable to ask for help.

Police Seek Immediate Calls From Public

Authorities said anyone who sees Oval Glinn or the silver Chevrolet Equinox should not wait to report it.

People who spot him or his vehicle are asked to call 911 immediately so officers can respond quickly and confirm his safety.

Anyone with other information about where Glinn may be should contact the Overland Park Police Department at 913-895-6300.

Search Efforts Continue

The alert remains focused on finding Glinn and safely returning him. Police have not said whether there are any signs of foul play.

At this stage, the main concern is locating him due to his dementia and the possibility that he may be disoriented or unable to safely navigate on his own.

Authorities are asking drivers, residents and businesses to remain alert, especially in areas near where the vehicle was last seen.
