Apple Commits $30 Billion to Broadcom in U.S. Chipmaking Push

Apple has announced a major expansion of its partnership with chipmaker Broadcom through a multi-year agreement expected to exceed $30 billion.

The deal represents Apple’s largest U.S. manufacturing commitment so far and will support the production of more than 15 billion American-made chips.

Broadcom Facility in Colorado to Expand

As part of the agreement, Broadcom will expand its facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, by $1.5 billion.

Apple did not specify when the added production capacity will become operational.

The investment is expected to strengthen U.S.-based chip manufacturing and support Apple’s long-term supply chain strategy.

Apple and Broadcom Deepen Custom Silicon Partnership

Broadcom has supplied Apple with connectivity components for years.

This new agreement expands that relationship further, focusing on U.S.-made custom silicon.

Apple said Broadcom will produce wireless components that help Apple devices connect to cellularWi-Fi and Bluetooth networks.

Broadcom Filing Confirms Long-Term Apple Agreements

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, Broadcom said it had signed new long-term agreements with Apple.

The filing said Broadcom will develop and supply custom ASIC silicon products for multiple generations of Apple products through 2031.

ASICs, or application-specific integrated circuits, are specialized chips increasingly used in areas such as artificial intelligence workloads.

Major Push for American Manufacturing

For Apple CEO Tim Cook, the agreement is another major step in expanding the company’s U.S. manufacturing presence.

The investment aligns with the Trump administration’s focus on domestic production.

The Broadcom deal is the largest part of Apple’s $600 billion, four-year U.S. investment plan announced in 2025.

It is also the biggest commitment so far under Apple’s American Manufacturing Program, known as AMP, which was launched to increase domestic production across the company’s supply chain.

Apple Says Deal Advances U.S. Silicon Supply Chain

Apple said it has been working with the administration and businesses across the United States to help build an end-to-end American silicon supply chain.

The company said Wednesday’s announcement moves that goal forward.

Cook said the components made in Fort Collins are essential to the performance and connectivity Apple users expect.

He also thanked President Donald Trump and his administration for supporting the project.

Broadcom Welcomes Apple’s Commitment

Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said Apple’s commitment will help the company grow its manufacturing footprint in Fort Collins.

The deal is expected to support Broadcom’s role as a key supplier for Apple while expanding U.S.-based production of advanced chip components.

Apple’s expanded Broadcom partnership marks a major investment in American chip manufacturing and custom silicon production. The multi-year deal, expected to exceed $30 billion, includes more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips and a $1.5 billion expansion of Broadcom’s Fort Collins facility.

The agreement strengthens Apple’s domestic supply chain strategy and supports broader efforts to build more advanced semiconductor capacity in the United States.
