Saskatchewan RCMP Respond to 177 Calls During Craven Country Thunder Music Festival

Saskatchewan RCMP say officers handled 177 calls for service during the Country Thunder Saskatchewan Music Festival in Craven over the weekend. Police described the festival as successful overall, but said officers still dealt with impaired driving, assaults, mischief, thefts and traffic safety violations.

Police Presence Around Festival Grounds

The festival took place in Craven, located outside Regina, and drew large crowds of country music fans and campers.

RCMP worked with Saskatchewan Government Insurance to conduct traffic stops near the festival grounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

54 Roadside Suspensions Issued

Police said 54 people received roadside suspensions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Of those, 42 drivers were suspended for alcohol-related impairment, while 12 drivers were suspended for drug-related impairment. RCMP also said two people were charged with impaired driving.

Hundreds of Traffic Tickets and Warnings

RCMP also issued 460 Traffic Safety Act tickets and written warnings in and around the Craven area.

Officers said the traffic enforcement was aimed at keeping roads safer as thousands of people travelled to and from the festival site.

Assaults, Mischief and Theft Reports

Police responded to several incidents on the festival grounds.

RCMP said officers handled two assault reports, one of which led to a criminal charge. They also dealt with 11 mischief complaints, including reports involving damage or behaviour that interfered with others’ enjoyment of the event.

Coolers, Lawn Chairs and Merchandise Stolen

Theft was also reported during the festival.

Police said five theft complaints involved items worth less than $5,000, including coolers, lawn chairs and merchandise booth property.

Alcohol and Disturbance Complaints

RCMP also responded to 28 Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act offences.

In addition, officers handled 23 disturbance or peace-related complaints, including reports of people causing disruptions during the event.

Calls Higher Than Previous Years

This year’s 177 calls were higher than recent Country Thunder totals.

RCMP responded to 156 calls during the 2025 festival and 147 calls in 2024.

Saskatchewan RCMP say Country Thunder in Craven remained a successful event despite 177 calls for police service. Officers dealt with impaired driving, traffic violations, thefts, mischief, assaults and disturbance complaints while also conducting check stops with SGI. The numbers show the importance of strong policing and road safety enforcement around large summer festivals.
